Glorious Judgment Day

The End of the World

For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man...They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. (Matthew 24: 27, 30 & 31)

There are many references in God’s word that tell us about judgment day - the day when Jesus will come again to judge all people and gather the believers to Himself. The above verses from Matthew, spoken by Jesus Himself, paint a beautiful picture of what that day will be like for those who believe. But what about those who don’t believe? What kind of picture does He paint for them?

What will the last day – Judgment Day – be like for those who have rejected Jesus? When the Son of Man comes in his glory and all the angels with him...he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left...He will say to those on his right ‘Come, you who are blessed by my father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world...Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. (Matthew 25: 34, 41)

In the 24th chapter of Matthew, Jesus tells us about some of the signs of the end to come. He says in verse 29; the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light (possibly an eclipse); the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken (There will be changes in the Universe). In verses 4 and 5 of the same chapter He tells His disciples; Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, `I am the Christ’ and will deceive many and in verse 6; you will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed...There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. He also warns in verse 36; No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father... and in verse 42 he reminds us to keep watch.

Although we see many of the signs of the end of the age which God tells us about here, in our world today, we need to remember that God is not bound by time like we are here on earth. There have been wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes, and floods since the beginning of time. We don’t know how close we are to the end of the world as we know it. It could be soon or it could be hundreds or even thousands of years from now, but Jesus tells us to be ready.

What does He mean when He says we should be ready? Does He mean we should always have a suitcase packed and ready? Does He mean we should be fearful? What exactly do we need to do to be ready for Jesus’ second coming?

In order to be ready for the last day, we need to be clean. We need to be free from the dirt and stain of sin. We need to be washed in the blood of the Lamb. Through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for all people, our sins are washed away. He lived a perfect life for us. He suffered the punishment we deserve for our sins when He died on the cross that dark day so long ago. He took our punishment upon Himself and gave us His holiness. Through the blood of Jesus shed for us, we are washed clean and are now presentable before God. God does not see our sin any longer. We are perfect and holy in His eyes. He tells us in Isaiah 1:18; though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

Since Jesus died for all people does that mean that all are going to be in heaven someday? That sounds pretty easy and safe. Why does anyone need to worry? Jesus washed us all and made us clean – now we all go to heaven – end of story.

God would like for that to be the end of the story for all people, but not all people want to acknowledge Jesus and what He did for them. When people reject Jesus and the sacrifice He made for them for the sake of their sinful lifestyles, or for their own human reason, they by choice, give up the gift.

When we love God we do our best to live according to His will. We love others as He loves us. We acknowledge sorrow over our sins by going to Him daily in prayer with a repentant heart. We trust in His promises. We have faith and believe in Him as the only way to heaven. The Holy Spirit gives us that faith when we read and study His word and through baptism. Our faith is renewed and strengthened also when we participate in the Lord’s Super.

For those people who have never heard the good news of Jesus and all He has done for us, He commands us to; go and make disciples of all nations...teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. He assures us that the world will not end until all people have had a chance to hear the gospel. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (Matthew 24:14)

It is the duty and privilege of all Christians to tell those whom they meet of the love of God through Jesus. The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 10: 14; And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?... and in verse 15; How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!

If you have faith – If you believe in Jesus as the only way to heaven – don’t keep it to yourself. Share it with all whom you know and meet whenever the opportunity arises. Put on your beautiful feet and tell the good news to all people so that they can be ready when the Day of Judgment arrives. Help plant the seed of faith in the hearts of those who don’t know Him. Give them the words of eternal life. The Holy Spirit will do the rest.

For those who believe in Jesus, Judgment Day will be glorious. We will see Jesus coming in the clouds. Just like His disciples saw Him ascend into heaven after His resurrection. We have the promise of the angels to the disciples as they watched Him go; This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back again in the same way you have seen him go into heaven. (Acts 1: 11)

Jesus will send His angels to gather all who believe in Him. The bodies of those who have died in the Lord will be raised to life again and reunited with their souls to live with Him in the mansions of heaven. Those believers who are still living on the day that He returns, will never see death, but will be taken directly from earth to live with Him eternally. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. (1 Thessalonians 4: 16,17)

Are you ready for Judgment Day? Are you afraid? If you are a child of God through faith, you need not be afraid. You are washed in the blood. You are clean and spotless and dressed for Heaven. There is no need to pack a suitcase. There will be no need for any of your earthly possessions in heaven. You just need to prepare your heart. I am confident and I am ready. I hope that Jesus comes back in my lifetime, but either way I am not alone. He promises to be with me in life and in death. The same assurance He gave His disciples the day He ascended into heaven, applies to you and me also. He promised; And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:20)

I am not afraid. In fact I am looking forward to the coming of Jesus Christ. It will be a glorious day when we see the eastern sky split and Jesus comes down on that great white horse and takes his children home to be with him in heaven. Praise God and Amen

Dian'sword4u,

I am glad to hear your comment. So many people I talk to are fearful of Judgment Day even though they believe in Jesus. I am glad to hear and know that you are ready. I am too. I hope it comes tomorrow!

I have patiently been awaiting the day of Christ's return for 48 years now ever since I read of it in my Bible.Death hold no fear for me, as I long for the day that I revert back to my spirit self.

Sister Kristeen, beautiful hub, I could not have written it any better. Thank God for you, maybe those who need salvation will take heed. You are right, it is all of us christians' duty and also should be our desire to evangelize the whole world, that all will come to Christ. We are living in the End-Times, and so many of us don't know it. The Bible said Christ will come like a thief in the night, then the Bible went on to say that we christians are children of the day, so when Jesus comes back that day will not overtake as a thief of the night. I thank you so much Sister Kristeen, your writings are so encouraging, and so helpful. On the subject on when is Jesus coming back, like you said we don't know, not even Jesus, only the Father, but, the Bible did say it is nearer now than when we first believed. God Bless You! I love you in the Lord.

Thanks for reading VOICE. I want so badly for all people to know the comfort and joy that abounds through faith. Unfortunately not all people value it like I do. I will continue to tell it though and let the Holy Spirit do the rest.

Maybe we'll be neighbors in heaven!

Lovely. Some people don't believe he'll will come back or they will be judge. I am trying my best to live for Jesus that i would ride on a white horse and go to heaven with him.

He will be the BEST JUDGE ever he will deal with us very just according to our works.

Let us keep pressing the battle

ladyjojo, Nothing we do on our own can win heaven for us. It is easier than that. We are saved by God's grace through faith in Him. "Grace" means God's undeserved love. Because of His love for us He sent His Son Jesus to live the perfect life we are unable to live because of sin. When He suffered and died on the cross He paid the debt we owe to God. He took our punishment upon Himself and gave us His holiness. When God looks at us through Jesus, He sees not our sin, but our holiness. We are washed clean and white as snow in His eyes through Jesus. Jesus did this for all people, but some choose to reject the gift that is offered.

I only explain this to you because some of your comments make me think you feel you have to be good to get to heaven. None of us are good enough for God without Jesus. Out of love for God and His Son we do our best to lead a life pleasing to Him and we reach out to others with the life giving "Gospel" or good news. The only way to heaven is through faith alone by grace alone. You believe in Jesus. You are saved! Continue to live your life for God out of love for Him, but know you are already saved. Unless you disregard that faith in the future, you are already going to heaven. Keep reading and studying God's word. Keep on telling others abut His love and forgiveness. He gives us faith through His word and through our baptism. You are a special young lady. Remember that God does not judge us according to our life, but according to our faith and love for Him and His only Son.

For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man........

I get the Holy Spririt shivers through me every time I read that line...yipppeeeeeeeeeee! I will clap and praise and dance and sing and probably say "I told you so" to all those who mock, scoff and laugh at Jesus.

Jesus exists-God exists and the devil does also. Hopefully people will realize the truth of this world and how very spiritual it is and that this day will come with a trumpet and all knee's will bend...mine sure will...after I am done dancing around and clapping!! hehehe

Really I don't look for it to be a judgment for true Christian who love Jesus and in fact part of His body, we are chastised here on earth and heaven judgment is more for heavenly rewards I think. I think we will rule over parts of the earth with Jesus from New Jerusalem above the earth and there is scripture somewhere above as a dove and I think that will be how human then will be us because we will be spirit reigning with Christ.

adding this here for you>

Polly,

No I haven't bothered with it. I have been concentrating on getting my book published through blurb. The ads aren't a big deal most of the time and I don't want any of my hubs to be erased. Thanks though. Computer issues can definitely raise your blood pressure sometimes. Don't let it get to you.

By the way, speaking of books. Where do I go to see the books you have written?

I have written a children's book over 20,000 words, a sort of heart warming romance I believe 60,000 + and countless that are shorter children and animal ones and good for all children at heart and I have published none so far but many online have read them and I have had some really high praises..saying they felt themselves inside the story with me. I have no patients to run down an agent and I am trying something new my husband and I have found out about and that is what is taking so much time. All night though I have been learning to do my own sites and it isn't easy but I got in a new Christian poem and I can't wait to get it all redone, tomorrow I hope so it will only be poems meaning I don't have to limit myself. The stories will go in a new direction. Have you published a book already? Taking the ads off is easy and it doesn't go against you.

Hi Polly,

Have you ever checked out Blurb.com? It is a self-publishing program. That is where I have my book published. There is a link to it at the beginning of this hub. It's titled "A Walk Through the Word". You don't need an agent. You download the bookmaking software which is free by the way, and set your book up exactly the way you want it. Once you have it all set, you upload it to their website and they put it together for you. Each book is made as it is ordered. It is an affordable way to publish. You don't need an agent.

I may look at removing the ads again. I have an ad for the Mormon church at the beginning of this hub and I truly hate that. I don't mind the ads. I would just like to have more control over what is visible on my hubs. That Mormon ad is the devil at work.

Do you have your books posted online somewhere? I would like to check them out?

Blessings, Kristeen

Polly,

When you go to the blurb website, Type the title of my book; "A Walk Through the Word" into the search box and it will come up. If you type in "Kristeen" it will also lead you to it.

Pollyannalana profile image

Pollyannalana 15 months ago

I will do that today and I said the same thing about the Mormon ads, to some people that may say to them I am Mormon. The switch the way to get out and for maybe months I had ads because I thought I had no choice. I hope it never comes to that.

I have had the children's book here and at ABC and many people loved it, I have never shown the warm hearted romance sort of a harlequin inspired type, I have had the copyright on both about two years and I hope to have time to build sort of a prelude but my husband is taking care of that and it will be available along with the children's I think at amazon and places like that, I really don't know more than that. He just says do this or do that and I am busy trying to catch up and rush it along, hopefully early summer will see a benefit if not before.

Yes I said I did have the Children's and some if not all the others (accept Inspired type Romance Book online but removed them) and did you read any I had on my new site? We will be taking those down this eve or tonight and I am going to put those to book form later when I finish the two I am on. I did go there to your place but couldn't get in but my husband told me he did so when he gets home I will have him show me, I may have typed in world instead of word he said. This is all I have now and they have a copyright but I have that much more again that I never planned to make a book on but many have encouraged me to so think I might,http://www.myendlessloves.com/Story_Titles.html

I have typed that in and found a walk through everything but the world. The Book I am selling now is just days from being out. I have no idea about the selling of it, I don't handle any of that I just write and write and read. It is children's but I would be happy to let you read it although it is about 10,000 words. I have had the copyright on all my stuff starting about two years ago up until before Christmas. Please email me when you can I need to talk to you.

Hey are you chomping carrots yet, lol. I checked your book and turned some pages, that's really cool. If you don't mind me asking what percent do you get?

Kristeen profile image

Kristeen Hub Author 14 months ago

I can set my own price as long as it is above my cost at least. I have published the book in different formats in order to make it affordable for people. The hard cover version is so expensive even at my cost that I republished it in the paperback version just to assure that people could afford to buy it. I am happy to say though that people are purchasing both to my surprise. I don't really have a set percentage and any proceeds of profit I make are going to support the Flint Pregnancy Counseling Center where I am a volunteer counselor.
